
The University of Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, near the Pacific coast of Canada. 15 minutes from downtown and not far from Vancouver and the US border – a 50-minute flight to Seattle.
The university has research strengths in areas including marine science, engineering, mathematics, data science and computer science, as well as creativity and culture, and has 47 staff (current and former) who have been elected Fellows of the Royal Society. The University of Victoria is a young institution. It gained degree-granting status in 1963, replica Canada diploma, although its origins date back to the founding of Victoria College, affiliated with McGill University in Montreal, in 1903.
