The University of Moncton was established on June 19, 1963 by the Regulative Get together of New Brunswick following the suggestions of an illustrious commission, Université de Moncton diploma. It came to fruition with the refocusing of the Holy person Joseph (1864), Sacré-Coeur (1899) and Holy person Louis (1946) schools, which consented to suspend their sanctions to become subsidiary foundations.

Under a revision embraced in 1977, the University sanction approved the foundation of grounds in the three French-talking districts of New Brunswick: Moncton, Edmundston and Shippagan. Various projects are presented in its six resources (expressions, sciences, organization, sociologies, training and graduate examinations) and its seven schools (regulation, ranger service, nourishment and day to day life, nursing, designing, actual schooling and recreation and work social).

The Université de Moncton has interesting examination communities of their sort: the Middle for Acadian Studies, the Canadian Organization for Exploration on Local Turn of events, the Middle for Interpretation and Phrasing and the Worldwide Custom-based Regulation Community, novelty Canada diploma. In 1997-1998, there were around 4,700 full-time understudies and 1,400 parttime understudies.
