The WSET focuses on the history, theory, and practical application and after getting the WSET certificates, individuals opt for careers in winemaking, distribution, import, and retail. WSET qualifications are available through a network of over 800 Approved Program Providers working in over 70 countries and in 15 languages.
WSET offers qualifications in tiers, from one-day beginner courses to the advanced Level 4 Diploma. Courses are designed to be studied progressively, with each level providing the best preparation for the following qualification. How far you progress through the levels is your choice and will depend on your personal goals. WSET’s education is delivered via accredited classrooms and online providers around the world, and all of its examinations are conducted in person.
WSET’s Level 1 Award in Wines students explore the main types and styles of wine along with food and wine pairing fundamentals, novelty diploma. The Level 2 Award in Wines builds on the Level 1 foundation. Though the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines follows the first two courses, it is quite advanced in comparison to the previous two levels. Final exams for Level 3 and Level 4 certification require tasting evaluations, codified in the widely recognized WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. WSET’s grid, which gets more in-depth as students advance in level, classifies the sensory acts involved in drinking wine. This is beneficial for students who want to hone their palate and tasting skills.
